Liberty Community Church Purposeand History Liberty Community Church Purpose Liberty Community Church exists to glorify God by communicating the message of Christ's redeeming love in a relevant manner to those outside the church, thereby winning them to Christ, building them up to be fully devoted followers of Christ and sending them forth into our community and throughout the world to do the good work that our Lord has commissioned His Church to do. —-Win, Build and Send Liberty Community Church History Liberty Community Church began in 1987 when founding Pastor Doug Labelle and a group of about 30 people were commissioned by Christ Community Church of Zion to plant this dynamic new church into the heart of Lindenhurst. Since our inception we have moved our meeting location twice to accommodate a three fold growth in attendance. Additionally we have expanded our ministry staff. Pastor Roger Bond was hired in 2001 upon the retirement of our founding pastor.
In 2004 we hired Pastor Carl Williamson to head student ministries. Pastor Carl has since taken a full-time chaplaincy position at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Waukegan yet remains
active in leading Liberty's Small Group Ministry. In 2005 Pastor Jeff Hammond came on board as Minister of Adult Discipleship when his former church, Horizon Christian Community, was led by the Spirit
of God to merge with Liberty. Jeff has since also become Pastor of Worship. Our next big transition is to build and occupy a permanent facility on the property we purchased on Gelden Road. God willing we will complete the initial phase and begin meeting there by the autumn of 2009. Beyond that we eagerly anticipate seeing the great things God will continue to do through Liberty Community Church. Timeline
